SQUARE EYES involves the screening of international and regional video art within the CAZ project space and reciprocal screenings within partner spaces around the world. CAZ provides a space for artists to exhibit work, reach new audiences and network locally and internationally.

CAZ, in partnership with Cornwall based based artist Janet McEwan organised the fourth SQUARE EYES screening, featuring video work from India and the South West of England.
Through Janet’s network, CAZ linked with Mumbai based artist/curator Sharmila Samant, who is partnered with artist led initiative, Clark House, Mumbai.
The work in Mumbai was screened over a five day period culminating with an evening screening in the CAZ space at the end of that week.

Direct Action 2011 was a 2 day festival consisting of an evening of solo presentations and a screening night. the emphasis this year was on performances on/for/at video.
In total 76 artists from 26 different countries participated in the event which was an open and uncurated festival screened originally at the institut für alles mögliche, Berlin & again in July at Konnektor Artspace in Hannover, Germany.
This screening took place at the CAZ artist led space as part of the SQUARE EYES programme alongside performance for video work from 16 artists from the South West of England.
The event also featured a rather unusual seating ’Platform‘ provided by artist Daniela Pălimariu.
“During CAZ SE3 you will find modules of The Platform arranged as seating areas, scattered around the screening room. Don’t be afraid to try them all; slip inside their cavities, make yourself comfortable, share them with a stranger”.

The selections have been made by André Sousa, of artist led space 'A Certain Lack Of Coherence', Porto, Portugal and Ian Whitford of CAZ, Penzance. This screening reflected a dialogue with The Exchange’s current exhibition ‘An Urban Silence’.
